99th Recon Baseball Team 1943-44
Members of the 99th Recon baseball team. The team took the Division Championship in 1943. 140 men in a Recon Troop, vs. 2,000-3,000 men per Infantry Regiment or Artillery Battalion. It would be a story that would ironically repeat itself on the battlefields of Europe, as the tiny Recon Troop was often called upon to displace an entire Regiment.
